I have been teaching my StretchFit™ Method, Therapeutic Stretching, and Point Release™ Technique classes at White Magnolia Tai Chi School for almost three years now. I thoroughly enjoy my small classes where I can spend more individual attention with my students, most, of which, I have seen for therapeutic bodywork and corrective exercise. I originally put together a video of one of the classes I taught for the students of that class and as a means to further my attempts to learn how to operate IMovie on my Mac. It is still a work in progress, but I am thrilled to have received a positive response to the trailer I made for the Joint Openers Routine I teach every Friday and would love to share it with you. The Joint Openers Routine is just a segment of the class I teach from 10:15-11:45am.

Though micro-stretching and fitness are not widely known or used terms, I assure you that it will be in the near future for injury prevention and rehabilitation. I believe it is already applied as used in Tai Chi, Feldenkrais, Rosen Method, Hellerwork, corrective and therapeutic stretching and exercise, posture therapy, and some forms of injury rehabilitation physical therapy. I strongly believe that the more awareness we bring to our posture and joint attachments as our "comprehensive core" and exercise or stretch with this as our base, we will experience fewer injuries, rehabilitate faster,
and age better. You can access the trailer here: https://youtu.be/J9dzu3s0H5w

Friday classes are $20 for 90-minutes. Drop-ins are welcome. Please bring your own mat, tennis ball, and comfortable clothing that allows you to move as well as view your posture in the mirrors.

Location: White Magnolia Tai Chi School
445 Colusa Avenue
Kensington, Ca.

The Differences Between PRT and Body Rolling: Part Two

The Differences Between PRT and Body Rolling: Part Two By Ashley Osier MA, HHE, CPS, CSMT, CAMT, CAYT, CWHP   It brings me great joy to live in a body that is fifteen years older and no longer limited  by moment-to-moment pain. As I consider contrasting Body Rolling with the Point Release™ Technique, it would be a normal temptation to try and discount one to highlight the other. Since this is not my intention and there is good information to share for both, my hope is that each reader will walk away well informed enough to be smart with their own body. Initially I set out to give a simple highlight on the differences, but after more investigation I found that Body Rolling has expanded, so I want to give credit where it is due.  Body Rolling, or Yamuna Body Rolling®, focuses on structural problems and "everywhere you have muscle connecting from one place to another." Yamuna, a bodyworker and yoga teacher took her own injuries and experience w...

Posture Awareness and Practice with PRT

By Ashley Osier MA, HHE, CPS, CSMT, CAMT, CAYT, CWHP It brings me great joy to live in a body that is fifteen years older and no longer limited by moment-to-moment pain. Posture Chart showing progress over a 9 month period Posture therapy has been a bit of an obsession with me since being injured in 1997 and working with a posture specialist twice a week for six months. He was able to open my eyes to the repetitiveness of my sliding back into incorrect posture, the need for strengthening the core to support a lengthened spine, and the micro-practice of awareness, stretching and strengthening needed to maintain a corrected posture. I had no idea how much of an impact he would make on my life both personally and professionally, but am ever thankful.  My challenge was that the work itself was incredibly painful and often put me into spasms that prevented me from practicing. So when I created Point Release™ Technique, I was thankful to get reli...

Retirement, Your Body, and PRT

By  Ashley Osier MA, HHE, CPS, CSMT, CAMT, CAYT, CWHP  ~ Holistic Wellness for Mind, Body, and Spirit ~ I have the world's best clients and students. They have been a constant inspiration in my practice and in developing strategies to assist injury prevention, pain management, stress management, and joyful aging. Recently one of my gems let me know that when she retires she planned on being more serious about starting a corrective exercise and wellness program. Why now? "I think I need to consider how strong I am going to need to be physically to take care of my husband in the coming years." That led me to considering the exercises I will be creating for her to fulfill this goal. While focusing on aging well or being able to play a sport or engage in a particular hobby are excellent goals, I couldn't help but be inspired by this clients' heart for her husband and forethought about her future.   So why am I writing about this here? Because I ...
